Entre ciel et terre une noix

Every evening, I walked along the beaches of Wailoaloa in Fiji. It was June 2022. June is usually a beautiful, clear, bright month. For the first time this year, and for as long as Fijians can remember, there were a few nights of heavy thunderstorms and intense rain. The sky rumbled and darkened, casting a shadow over the island of Viti Levu. "Climate change", my friend Ana tells me.
While my friend was telling me about climate change and its tragedies, a wave threw a walnut at my feet. It was like a sign from life telling me that even in these difficult climatic changes, life takes over again, throwing the seeds of a better future onto the coasts.
The nut is orange. Orange is derived from red, the colour of love and life. The sky is threatening, the landscape dark. The ocean, the source of life, has laid this beautiful coconut at my feet so that it can let the tree blossom inside. This photograph resembles the light that I try to bring to my paintings, my writings and the few photos that I also take.
This photo is full of hope, love for humanity and luminosity.
