Before the words

"Before Words"

Everything is already there,
even before anything is said.

The flowers hold the silence,
and time seems to hesitate.

Sometimes, a moment like this is all it takes
for everything to begin.

Through this photograph, I wanted to convey:
a quiet house;
late afternoon light;
materials that absorb sound;
a discreet, unpretentious elegance;

an atmosphere of soft conversation.

The velvety blur, the warm tones, the depth of the reds, and the glossy texture all contribute to this muted effect.
Even the empty space on the right acts almost like a visual silence.

My image evokes a human presence just outside the frame. As if someone had just left the room or was about to return with a tray of tea.
On the right side of the photograph, we see a piece of a teapot on a white plate, the lid to one side, and a red and pink rose blooming in a bouquet inside the teapot. Behind the teapot, there is a photograph of the pink rose mirroring the one in the teapot.

The sounds become velvet

Against a night background, a bright red rose shows the back of its flower, beneath whose petals a thousand tiny drops of water resemble diamonds.

Diamonds. Diamonds are forever.

My tenderness, my passion, my love
Before I give myself to you
Let these diamonds sparkle.

Just for the moment of being here

Before my flower becomes yours
Before my fragrance perfumes your memory
Let these diamonds sparkle.

Right here, now.

My tenderness, my passion, my love
Before I surrender myself to you, let these diamonds gather and shimmer.

Just this moment… Simply being here.

Before my flower becomes yours, before my fragrance lingers forever in your memory, let these diamonds gather and shimmer.

Right here… Right now.

A flower feeds my soul

Flowers are essential to my life. They bring joy to my home, a smile to my clients' lips, a sweet and delicate fragrance to the heart of the one who receives them, a kiss to the soul of the one who receives them.

When I took this photo, focused on achieving sharpness in the image of the flower, I didn't notice the subtle light pollen enhancing it, flooding it with light to make it the star of my lens. Magnificent, this flower, barely in bloom, is already fading, illuminated by the sunlight, caressed by dewdrops. This flower exudes serenity, calm, inner peace, life, the passage of time, and doesn't diminish the charm of wrinkles and gray hair. Are humans flowers?

When I took this photo, concentrating on sharpening the image of the flower, I didn't realize that the light pollen was sublimating it, flooding it with light to make it the star of the scene in my lens. Magnificent, this flower that has barely bloomed but is already fading, illuminated by the glitter of the sun and caressed by droplets of dew. This flower exudes serenity, calm, inner peace, life, the passing of time, and takes nothing away from the charm of wrinkles and white hair. Could humans be flowers?

A bunch of white grapes falls or slides towards the viewer. All you have to do is open your mouth to bite into them and taste them.

Naughtiness

Devour me. I can feel your gaze resting on my curves and the promise they hold.
Devour me. My flesh is meltingly tender and delicious. My skin is soft and smooth.
Caress me, slowly, first with your eyes, then with your fingertips. Slowly, gently, with care and modesty.
Devour me.

A river, a dirt road on the other bank, and jungle on the right. In the middle of the river, a man and his horse are crossing this slippery surface.

The most beautiful crossings are never made alone. The most beautiful crossings are never made alone.

The most beautiful crossings are never made alone.

The river, calm or raging, hides many dangers.
Smooth, rounded stones, slippery mud.

And yet, together, side by side, we move forward.

My strength becomes yours, and your trust becomes mine.

Neither obstacles nor risks will overcome us.

You and I, side by side, for each other… we cross.

A coconut in its husk lies washed up on the beach. It's in the foreground. Behind it, in the distance, you can see the black sand beach; to the left, yellow sand and coconut palms in the distance. A few white seashells are visible on the wet black sand. This photo has won every first prize so far.

A nut between heaven and earth.

Every evening, I strolled along the beaches of Wailoaloa in Fiji. It was June 2022. Usually, June is beautiful, clear, and bright. But for the first time this year, and as far back as Fijians can remember, there were a few nights of severe thunderstorms and torrential rain. The sky rumbled, darkened, and cast a dark veil over the island of Viti Levu. "Climate change," my friend Ana told me. As she spoke of climate change and its tragedies, a wave washed a nut up at my feet. It was like a sign from life, telling me that even amidst these challenging climate changes, life prevails, casting the kernels, the seeds of a better future, onto the shore. The nut was orange. Orange is a derivative of red, the color of love and life. While the sky loomed threateningly, the landscape darkened. The ocean, the water that gives life, placed this beautiful coconut at my feet so that the tree within could blossom. This photograph perfectly captures the light I strive to convey in my paintings, my writing, and the few photographs I also take. This image is full of hope, love for humanity, and luminosity.

It was like a sign from life telling me that even in these difficult climatic changes, life takes over again, throwing the seeds of a better future onto the coasts. The nut is orange. Orange is derived from red, the color of love and life. The sky is threatening, the landscape dark. The ocean, the source of life, has laid this beautiful coconut at my feet so that it can let the tree blossom inside. A hibiscus flower leans towards the viewer. A close-up of the red flower, its petals open and its red and yellow pistil against a deliberately blurred green and blue background. This photograph evokes the sensuality and blossoming of a woman under the kisses of her beloved.

Kiss me Give me a kiss

Before you pluck my flower,
Look at me, tenderly.
Caress my skin.
Do not hurt me, I am fragile.

Kiss me slowly,
Your lips upon mine delicate,
Without haste.

Kiss me even if your lips hesitate.

Let my shivers, carried as by a breeze,
Invade your being with a sweet, irrepressible flow.

Kiss me.

I hold my breath
Before passion sweeps us away
And before, under the warmth of your kisses, I blossom.

Before you pluck my flower,
Look at me, tenderly.

Caress my skin.

Do not hurt me, I am fragile.

Kiss me slowly,
Your lips upon mine delicate,
Without haste.

Kiss me—even if your lips hesitate. May my shivers, carried as if by a breeze,
Flood your very being with a gentle, irresistible surge.

Kiss me.
I hold my breath
Before passion sweeps us away
And, in the warmth of your kisses, I blossom.

The calm Pacific Ocean meets the sky. Both are blue. One a deep, almost royal blue, and the other a sky blue with white clouds. To the right, a wooded islet. Perspective towards the background where the ocean and sky meet.

Deep Blue

I stood there, facing that image. I remained motionless before the beauty of the blue emanating from nature, sublimated by the extraordinary light of the moment. The image's message became clear to me. The endless horizon of the sea embraces the sky with both strength and gentleness; passion follows patience. One must go to the very edge of this profoundly blue ocean to touch the sky, to caress it, and to experience the softness of the clouds, the purity of the heavens. I felt the culmination as a reward in life for patient and constant work. My feet left the earth of this island, green with hope, and I was plunged into this surreal sea, this tranquil eternity when it is like oil, and superhuman in the challenge met: to touch the sky, to navigate around the boats like obstacles, and finally to merge into the pure sheets of the bed of stars, celestial bodies, and gods. Life is a succession of challenges, the important thing is to take up pure challenges, benevolent for your neighbors and the Earth, to hold on to them, to pursue them with sometimes patience and sometimes vigor and success will inevitably be there in a much more beautiful way than expected.

The message of the image became clear to me. The endless horizon of the sea embraces the sky with strength and gentleness, passion comes after patience. You have to go all the way to the end of this deep blue ocean to touch the sky, to caress it, to enjoy the softness of the clouds and the purity of the sky. A tree in the middle of the ocean, its roots resembling feet, one branch a hand resting on a hip, its leaves a head of hair. A vine, like a fishing line, descends towards a lobster-shaped root.

The barefoot fisherwoman

With her feet in the water, caressed by the waves, her left hand on her hip for balance, her long, thick hair flowing in the ocean breeze, this woman fishes to feed her loved ones. The fishing line emerges from her hair, darting down towards a crustacean ready to succumb to temptation. She has never heard of trap fishing, nor of any technique other than hook and line fishing. There she is… feet planted firmly on the seabed, motionless, patiently waiting for her catch to be successful.

This photograph pays tribute to these little-known women who are nonetheless vital to the economic development of their communities. Their fishing practices respect the ocean. This work is typically done by women between the ages of 45 and 60. They take risks because the ocean is not without its dangers.

A terracotta flowerpot, tilted ever so slightly forward, rests at the foot of a wall among leaves, twigs, and a pebble. I created a funny story where insects transform this flowerpot into a palace in which they dance and admire the fireworks display of the stars. Milanese, because it was in Milan that the first clay pots were created.

Milanese Palace

A palace shared by several species of insects, small feathered and furry creatures, officially invited to participate in lavish ceremonies where songs and buffets delight the guests. The decor is discreet, as security dictates. The palace is built using noble, environmentally friendly materials. The view over the gardens is breathtaking. A vegetable garden tended by specialized workers offers the very best in taste, aroma, and color. From the palace's balconies, one can enjoy the cool air and the spectacle of the Royal Opera's "Dragonflies and Butterflies" ballets on the ponds and their waterfalls. Clearly, the hosts are benevolent and in tune with the times!

It's clear that our hosts are friendly and up to date!

Three tennis balls, one behind the other, lie on a wooden table with fir trees in the background. They await their turn to launch themselves into the sky on a tennis court.

Game Over

Always ready to soar into the sky, jump, fly, and bounce at the player's whim, the short lives of these three companions are filled with adventures, setbacks, and victories. Sometimes in their pockets, sometimes scattered across the court, in their hands, they accept all the sacrifices demanded of them to hit the racket again and again, with a cry of pain, and, for the final ball, undoubtedly a cry of joy. Three tireless workers toiling away until burnout. The game is over; here they are, laid on the table for a well-deserved rest. They await the decision regarding their fate. The luckiest will be offered as toys to a cat or a dog. The most worn out by hard labor live their final moments.

Life's challenges can wear us down, and one day, rest is imposed upon us despite our will. Our final period of life sometimes depends on elements beyond our control. We all inexorably await our turn toward the end.
